How to Make Resin Charms for Jewelry
Resin jewelry is so pretty and so easy to make. Resin is a clear plastic-like substance that can be molded and used to cover pretty items or decorative papers. It can be molded into charms, bracelets, or anything you can find a mold in. With just a little work and time, you can make great gifts for your family and friends. Follow this step by step guide to make a beginner resin charm for jewelry.
1.To begin making your resin charms, you will first need to gather all or you the supplies needed. Most of the items listed can be found at your local craft store. You will need the following items:
• EasyCast clear casting epoxy resin.
• Clear plastic cups that are not coated with wax.
• Wood stirring sticks.
• Ready-made molds.
• Items to place in resin like glitter, decorative paper, anything small enough to fit.
• Rope to hold charm.
• Gloves.
• Wax paper or any other protective paper.
• Timer.
2. Set up your work area. Place the wax paper down over your table and put your gloves on. Be careful not to get the mixture on your skin or clothing. Resin can cause irritation if it makes contact with your skin.
3. Mix EasyCast clear casting epoxy resin. You will use equal parts of each solution and stir with wood stirring sticks for two minutes. After stirring, transfer mixture to another container and stir again.
4. Place item of choice into the ready-made molds and pour the mixture over the items in the molds. Let mold sit over night.
5. Gently remove hardened resin from molds and charms are ready. If you want to attach charm to a rope to make a necklace, make a small hole in the top of resin to attach rope.
